Josia is a Partner and Principal Consultant of KNC based in Dar es Salaam. He is a licensed Consulting Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Expert and Environmental Auditor with the National Environmental Management Council (NEMC), Tanzania. He holds a BSc. Degree in Environmental Engineering, Master’s Degree in Project Management, NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) for Management of Health & Safety, and is a certified Lead Auditor for Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and Quality Management Systems (QMS).
Josia is a seasoned environmental, social sustainability, project management and health & safety professional with over 18 years of experience across Africa and internationally. He has held senior roles with leading organizations including AngloGold Ashanti, Royal Dutch Shell, Environmental Resources Management (ERM), and Tembo Nickel, bringing a unique blend of corporate insight, consultancy acumen, and independent audit expertise. His deep understanding of ESG, Applicable National and International ESIA & ESG Standards/Frameworks is backed by hands-on experience aligning projects with international standards such as the IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles, and other sector-specific best practices. Josia has also led the successful development and implementation of Environmental & Social management systems based on ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
As an international consultant, Josia has successfully led numerous Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) assessments, Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs), Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs), and Environmental & Social Due Diligence (ESDD). His work aligns with international standards and lender requirements across a wide range of sectors, including mining and metals, finance and lending, oil and gas, agriculture and agribusiness, infrastructure and transport, manufacturing and industry, power and renewable energy, water and sanitation, and technology.
Josia is also a very experienced Project Manager with a proven track record in delivering high-impact Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) advisory and assessment services. He has successfully supported large corporations, international financial institutions and prominent banks, demonstrating deep expertise in sustainable finance and responsible investment, making him a trusted advisor in the ESG and development finance space.
